Jonny Campbell tries his hand at many things; design, education, business, speaking, and writing. His journey began at the tender age of five when he acquired his first set of LEGO®. It was this encounter with these rudimentary building blocks that he would learn the basic principles of design. A year later—for Christmas of 1991—his mother would buy his father an original Nintendo and it was probably this experience that would ignite his passion for technology.

Campbell spent the following years enthralled with computers so it was no surprise when he attended university to study a BSc in Interactive Multimedia Design in 2005. Over the course of the four-year course he would hone his craft — learning about web standards, accessibility, and best-practice in relation to web design. As he studied he worked as a freelance web and print designer. The undergraduate course offered students a chance to work in industry in their third year. Campbell chose to work for Translink, Northern Ireland's public transport service for 14 months as a graphic designer before returning to his final year of study.

For the following year Campbell juggled partying university life and clients, like PricewaterhouseCoopers, Marie Curie, and the University of Ulster, finally graduating in 2009. It was at this point he considered to further his partying studies and applied to enroll on a MA in Multidisciplinary Design at the University of Ulster. The MA established an environment for creative practitioners from a diverse array of design backgrounds and provided a platform for the cross-fertilisation of ideas and approaches to the design process. It was these two years that radically changed how he viewed the world of design and his place within it. Campbell went on to graduate in 2011 and left crazed enough to think that he could change the world…
